Sirius XM 2.0 radios out late this year

More details on the upcoming Sirius XM 2.0 technology have been revealed. It will arrive near the end of the year with two radios that support the tech. By mid-2012, a 2013 model year car from an unnamed manufacturer with an OEM radio that supports the tech will be released. The Android-based platform aims to compete with Internet radio and will have built-in support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Internet access as a whole.

The new head units can then be upgraded over the air like modern smartphones. And the ability to offer customized content will arrive in the platform as well, meant to offer a viable alternative to Pandora. Subscribers will get up to five hours of time-shifting capability on most channels in addition to pausing and rewinding, as currently available/

Also added are new Spanish channels and on-demand programming. [via CEOutlook]
