UI redesigned for larger screens

The BBC has introduced a new iPlayer variant designed specifically for televisions, set-top boxes and other connected devices. Although the company several years ago released a "Big Screen" iPlayer for larger screens, the new offering is said to be redesigned, improved and supported on more than 300 different devices.

Aside from general adaptations for television-size screens, the interface has also been adapted to be controlled with standard directional keys and the enter button on most remotes. The company worked to eliminate complex page navigations that are better suited to computer browsers, while content is flagged if it will be expiring soon.

The new iPlayer interface now available on the PS3 console, with additional devies to be added in the future.
