Price falls below original expectations

Vizio has finally begun shipping its eight-inch Android tablet, which will arrive on store shelves with a $299 price tag. The company's own pre-order page suggested the tablet was originally expected to arrive on July 18. Early reports surrounding pricing were also inconsistent, as rumors pointed to $300 but the pre-order site listed $400.

The tablet integrates an eight-inch display with 1024x768 resolution, a 1GHz processor, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and a front-facing VGA camera. The device also interacts with home theater equipment via HDMI output, an infrared transmitter and universal remote app, and HDCP streaming.

Vizio suggests the tablet can be purchased from popular retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Sam's Club, and Costco, among others.
