Toughbook S10 with 12.5-hour battery introduced
Panasonic has just added its latest Toughbook with the ultra-portable 12.1-inch S10. The 12-inch ultraportable weighs just three pounds but has a claimed battery life of 12.5 hours. The rugged notebook is powered by a 2.5GHz Intel Core i5 and so can still manage full-size performance even in the small size.
The shock-mounted 320GB, 5,400RPM hard drive and the magnesium alloy case are made and tested to withstand a 30-inch drop to the base while on. The spill-resistant keyboard can shake off as much as six ounces (200ml) of fluid.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are standard, with a Gobi2000 3G modem optional. A fingerprint reader is another option for security. USB 3.0, VGA, HDMI and an SDXC card reader are also on tap for expansion. A DVD drive is standard, as is 4GB of RAM, though up to 8GB can be had.
The Toughbook S10 ships in the US in September, with price starting at $2,449.
