Fresh source targets October 7 for ship date
A comparatively untested rumor on Friday has added to the slew of disputed iPhone 5 release dates. Apple is purportedly aiming to ship the new model on October 7. TiPb's insiders were suggesting it would be a subtler upgrade to the iPhone 4 design rather than the major reworking hinted by some, but the site wasn't ready to commit to that view.
A counterclaim also tossed out rumors of an iPad 3 this fall. No hardware details surfaced, but the Apple tablet would still be on its recently established spring update cycle.
The exact timing of the iPhone 5 has been one of the more openly contested Apple rumors this year. Some rumors from traditionally reliable sources have put it in October. Others, going so far as carrier plans, have alluded to September. Any release will come much later than the usual June and reflects extra work put into iOS 5.
The iPad 3 schedule has been less directly contested and would be supported by the rumor. Part of its comparative certainty has come from the technology needed to make it work. A frequently mentioned 2048x1536 display will need faster graphics and faster performance. Apple has only just started test production of the A6 and wouldn't be ready for fall.

Don't be stupid.
Of course there won't be an iPad 3 this year. Apple just barely started to catch up to demand for the iPad 2 and can only now produce them as fast as they can sell them. The iPad 2 is still hot enough to ensure they'll sell truckloads of 'em before christmas.
