Samsung Infuse 4G gets ATT
An off-hand response from AT&T to a user on Twitter has narrowed down the Samsung Infuse 4G's Android 2.3 update to this month. The cell provider had promised an update eventually but, until now, hadn't narrowed it down. A representative stopped short of committing to a specific date or of explaining what features it would bring specific to the Infuse.
The OS revamp brings more interface polish, a much improved copy-and-paste text system with a multi-touch keyboard, better app and power management, and overall better performance. An update to Android 2.3.4 would give it official support for Google Talk video chat, but it will add official recognition of the front camera without needing explicit support.
Every contract-based Android phone AT&T started selling in 2011 will get Android 2.3 before the end of the year. Most phones have yet to be upgraded. So far, the updates have focused the most on high-end phones such as the Atrix 4G and the Inspire 4G.
