ATT to sell Torch 9810 at low price

AT&T on Monday priced and dated the BlackBerry Torch 9810's arrival in the US. The BlackBerry 7 smartphone should reach its shops on August 21. At $50 on contract, it will also be one of the cheapest BlackBerry introductions yet on AT&T, costing just $50 on a contract where the original Torch cost $200.

The 9810 is mostly an upgrade of last year's hardware and brings it up to a much faster 1.2GHz processor and 720p video recording. BlackBerry 7 is the main upgrade and runs much faster along with other, minor upgrades. The 3.25-inch, 360x480 screen and other core features stay intact.

No mention has been made of when AT&T's other promised phone, the Torch 9860, is due to ship. Without details so far, it's more likely to arrive in September.
