Microsoft starts hiring for Windows Phone 8 by name

Windows Phone 8 dev position requires C/C++/C#

Microsoft took its first public steps toward Windows Phone 8, posting a job listing on the Microsoft website. The job posting was short on detail, stressing the ability to work independently, five or more years experience and strong programming skills in C/C#/C++ or other object-oriented development languages. The posting also hinted that the kernel of the Windows Phone 8 team was already "onboarded" (hired). Windows Phone 8 is not expected until late 2012 at the earliest.

Comments from Windows president Steven Sinofsky indicate a stronger pairing of Windows Phone and the desktop OS. Sinofsky recently gave a first look at an early Windows 8 tablet OS build, and promised more details at the upcoming developer conference, Build. The version Sinofsky showed borrowed heavily from the touch-oriented Windows Phone 7.5 "Mango" interface.

Windows Phone 7.5 has been finished since July. A free update for existing Windows Phone 7 devices is expected some time in September. [via WMPoweruser]
