ATT exec hints very busy iPhone 5 October intro
A quick report Friday claims that AT&T has all but verified the October iPhone 5 release. An unnamed AT&T vice president supposedly explained to staffers that Apple would launch in "early October," BGR said. Managers were told business would get "really, really" busy within 35 to 50 days.
The 50-day window conveniently ends on October 8, a day after the commonly rumored launch date for the new hardware.
None of the new details have been independently verified. AT&T usually has to be briefed on an iPhone release date weeks in advance to coordinate promotional campaigns and extra staff to handle the demand. Multiple generally reliable sources have repeatedly referenced October as the ship date with relatively little dissent.
The iPhone 5 is widely presumed to have a dual-core A5 processor, an eight-megapixel camera, and possibly a larger screen. An option for up to 64GB storage has also been floated but not confirmed, but the phone should be dual-mode CDMA and GSM and should ship through Verizon at the same time.
