Mozilla outs Firefox 7 beta for desktops, Android

Mozilla this week released the latest Firefox 7 beta build for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. The browser is said to be faster and thus better suited for developers when making Web apps and websites. Memory use has been optimized for better responsiveness, startup and page load time.

The JavaScript garbage collector also works more often to improve performance when lots of tabs are open or the browser has been running for a long time. Data sync has also been made faster while Azure Direct2D for Canvas helps Firefox speed up HTML5 Canvas-based animation rendering. Another way to display CSS 3 text that overflows the layout area has also been given developers with the CSS 3 Text-Overflow ellipsis. Developers can measure page load time and site navigation with a new web timing spec. Finally, a Telemetry add-on will collect browser performance data and send it back to the Mozilla team to help improve future versions of the browser.

As for the Android-based mobile Firefox Beta, the same sync and memory optimizations were performed, but a copy and paste function was added to allow moving text from mobile site. Firefox browsing history is also restored when the browser is opened after being closed. There are more 10 languages supported and the browser can detect the language setting on the device.

    Ridiculous Naming...

This whole versioning is laughable. These are merely point updates....

    Why bother

Half of the extensions I need for work don't even work with Firefox 4.

    Hey...

Lemme make a stupid remark about their version numbering, too! Because, by God, it's not f*cking unfunny, yet and people whom agree with me think I'm smart or something! It's obviously something I JUST heard of YESTERDAY because I live under a rock and, well, really... I've nothing better to do with my enormous ability to quip over the menial details!!! That MUST be it because I take the time out of my day to make another G********* STUPID, SOPHOMORIC post about Mozilla's version-numbering to waste another reader's time because I have NOTHING INTELLIGENT TO OFFER...

Yay, Firefox 451– due next week– will be codenamed Fahrenheit! I'm a literary genius when it comes to referencing high school reading material, too! Can't wait for Firefox 1984! Woohoohoo I'm on a roll!
