Nintendo working on 3DS analog stick add-on?
A French, gaming-oriented site, 01net, claims it has heard from sources about the future of Nintendo's 3DS portable gaming console. For one, the source says Nintendo plans to add an add-on joystick accessory to the console, which will cost about $10 and attach to the right side of the device. Whether it will interfere with the closing of the device and thus need to be removed in order to do so isn't known, but likely.
Another, more contentious rumor involves a next generation portable gaming console from the company being developed for a 2012 release. It may lose the 3D screen, and therefore the 3DS moniker. Why Nintendo is doing this isn't known, but it's likely the console's disappointing sales that made the company drop its price significantly are some of the motivation behind it. There are also concerns from parents over the console's effect on the eye health of their children, though some optometrists disagree.
These rumors are expected to be confirmed (or denied) at the upcoming Nintendo Conference in Tokyo scheduled for September 13. It's expected new games and developers or perhaps even hardware will be announced at the conference, though software is presumed to be the focus. Nintendo will try and expand its developer base at the show by making more toolkits available.

3D is a gimmick
Since birth or 3D images with the stereoscope, third dimension photo-films-video have been only a curiosity and not a main stream entertainment. There is too much drawback (blurry details, eyes strains, complexe producing, etc) so new 3D stuff keep coming from all ages and fade away just as fast. On the 3DS, the third dimension add nothing to gameplay, game are not more enjoyable by this gimmick.
