Jobs to still provide advice after resignation

Following Steve Jobs' resignation from Apple as CEO, new sources have claimed that his exit will still see him influence Apple strategy for some time. Those "familiar with the situation" told the WSJ that Jobs was still active and was "closely involved" in corporate strategy. They didn't elaborate to what extent, but it will most likely focus on broader direction than the minute details Jobs was known for as CEO.

Jobs importantly retains his position as the chairman of the board and will still have influence similar to that of Bill Gates shortly after he left his own leadership.

The commentary may reassure investors worried that Apple might depend too heavily on Jobs for its broader direction. To some extent, the now ex-CEO has already been in this position, having delegated day-to-day tasks to COO Tim Cook during his two medical leaves but providing input and frequently visiting the campus.

Many questions will still remain about how Apple will run in the long term without its co-founder. Some of its policy decisions are based on Jobs' own personal views, such as on tightly integrated systems and on preferences for certain standards and design philosophies. Jobs has tried to formally pass on his philosophy but won't have as much influence as he did as direct leader.
