Latest device to get barred from streaming service
Hulu has reportedly reconfigured its streaming video service to block access attempts from HP's TouchPad tablet. Although the tablet was discontinued less than two months after it first reached US customers, sales have reportedly maintained a fast pace after HP decided to slash prices for the 16GB variant from $500 down to just $100.
The Hulu block has not come as a surprise, as the video streaming service has maintained the same strategy for any tablet that does not have a dedicated Hulu app. The company has also blocked the service from certain connected devices such as Google TV, as the content is primarily intended to be accessed from desktop and notebook computers.
Although Hulu worked to establish agreements with content providers to provide access from Apple's iPad and Vizio's eight-inch tablet, the company is not expected to follow a similar route with the TouchPad. [via This is my next]
