Nokia Ovi Store updated with app push to phones
Nokia just announced that its Ovi Store for mobile apps is powered by Nokia Drop. As such, it now allows users to send any new apps, themes, ringtones and more directly to their phone from the desktop, just like in Android Market. Users don't need to wait for an SMS before installing an app, and the browser extension plug-in is no longer needed.
Supported browsers include Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer, though the new store experience is currently offered as an optional beta. As an example, once users select automatic mode from the Drop client, free app installations are started as soon as the download is finished.
Nokia developers want users to know all previously introduced browser extension features continue working as in the past in Chrome and Firefox.
