Images show carrier's internal tests

AT&T has reportedly begun testing its LTE network in Chicago, though the company has yet to publicly confirm deployment dates for a formal 4G introduction. Images posted on Boy Genius Report appear to show AT&T's Elevate mobile hotspot connected to the LTE network. Screenshots from speed tests show the hotspot achieving maximum download speeds of 13Mbps and upload speeds of 2Mbps.

The shots were said to be taken from an unnamed source using the test network, likely without many other users connected to the system. The real-world speeds remain unclear until the company officially launches LTE service.

AT&T just last month introduced the Elevate 4G and an LTE-equipped USB modem, the Momentum 4G. The company promises to launch its LTE network sometime this summer, with the first markets to include Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; and Chicago, Illinois.
