EyeTV Mobile add-on for iPad 2 picks up TV signal
Elgato, which makes TV tuners and the EyeTV app for the iPad has now released its EyeTV Mobile dongle for the iPad 2. It connects to the dock connector and allows users to view digital Freeview TV signals thanks to its telescoping antenna. It also supports any radio and MPEG-2 streams that are sent out over DVB-T.
Not supported, however, is Freeview HD/DVB-T2. Users can pause, rewind and record the content as well. The add-on has its own battery, which is recharged using its own USB connection. The accessory requires a free app.
The EyeTV Mobile accessory ships at the end of September in Europe, priced at £100 or 100 Euros (about $144). There is no word on when or if the device will come stateside, though before this happens, the device needs to be modified to support ATSC signals, as the other two don't exist in the US.
