Rogers LTE network in Toronto due September 28

Rogers on Tuesday revealed it will be the first to get the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE smartphone, along with four other LTE-capable hardware devices. The also include the LTE Rocket mobile hotspot, a new LTE Rocket Stick, an unnamed LTE tablet (likely the HTC Puccini) and an HTC smartphone. At the same time, the company's LTE network will launch in Toronto on September 28, following a release in Ottawa early in July.

The HTC smartphone is likely to be the Holiday, which was leaked a few days ago and supports AT&T's LTE 4G network.

The LTE network will initially allow theoretical maximum download speeds of up to 100Mbps. Real-life speeds in Ottawa range between 12 and 25Mbps and are faster than those on other wireless networks. Eventually, Rogers expects maximum theoretical download speeds to grow to 150Mbps.

Interested parties can reserve their Rogers LTE devices online now.
