Sharp Galapagos A01SH 7-inch tablet on sale in Japan for $1

Sharp tablet runs Android 3.2, has dual cameras


Sharp has launched its 7-inch Galapagos A01SH tablet in Japan. The Wi-Fi-only version of the tablet has a Tegra 2 processor and 1GB RAM. It also has Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, GPS, a 5-megapixel rear camera with flash and a 2-megapixel front camera. It runs Android 3.2.

The Galapagos A01SH also has a microSD card slot and a micro HDMI port. The tablet will have access to the Tsutaya digital content store. Sharp claims the battery will deliver 7.5 hours of video playback.

The Sharp Galapagos A01SH is available from retailers and E-Mobile in Japan for as low as ¥100 ($1) for customers who also sign up for ISP service. The full retail price is ¥44,800 ($585).

Sharp said it will bring the Galapagos A01SH to the US market, but has not announced shipping dates or pricing. [via Netbook News]
