YP-R2, YP-Z3 media players support MP3 HD

Samsung Korea just introduced two new MP3 players that have MP3 HD support, for quality that's said to be five times better than regular MP3 audio. The YP-R2 and YP-Z3 can also access Korea's largest music store, Melon, which offers nearly 2.2 million songs. Samsung's SoundAlive tech is built in, with various equalizer settings for personalizing music sound.

Both players can also reproduce video, with WQVGA resolution displays. Virtual 5.1-channel surround sound is also supported, but Samsung hasn't revealed any more tech specs other than an 8.6mm thickness and 52g weight for the products. Whether this is for both or one of them isn't known.

Also unspecified are shipping dates and prices. The players may not reach markets outside of Korea, although Samsung normally exports at least some of its lineup to the US.
