Early pricing shows up at $1,136 USD

Acer is prepping to launch its new ultrabook at the IFA exhibition in Berlin on Friday. Based on banners appearing at the show in advance, the company has rebranded the MacBook Air rival as the Acer Ultrabook S3. Previously, it had been alluded to as the Acer Aspire 3951.

The 13-inch ultrabook is powered by an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. Hard drive options will be either a conventional spinning drive or an SSD up to 128GB. To meet or beat Intel's criteria to be called an ultrabook, it will be no thicker than 0.51 inches and weigh no more than 3.09 pounds.

Although no pricing has been announced, a placeholder for a version with a Core i5, 4GB RAM, and a 320GB hard drive has showed up at Italian retailer Monclick, priced at 786 euros ($1,136 USD). [via Notebook Italia]
