HTC 'Runnymede' said due in time for holidays

A new rumor suggests that HTC is developing a new smartphone codenamed 'Runnymede' that is expected to pack Beats Audio. HTC recently injected $300 million into Beats Electronic in order to deliver handsets with better audio quality. The new phone is also set to be bundled with Beats Audio headphones, not earphones.

Other details to emerge about the new device are that it will pack the same 1.5GHz single-core processor as the HTC Flyer tablet, matched with 768MB of RAM. It will run Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) and will include the latest HTC OS skin, Sense 3.5. It will also incorporate a 720p-capable 8-megapixel rear camera matched with a 1.3-megapixel front camera. It will also pack a large 4.7-inch 480x800 display.

With its emphasis on audio, 'Runnymede' will employ SRS Surround sound, dual-microphones, and will also recognise when the Beats headphones are plugged in.

The HTC 'Runnymede' is expected to ship in time for the holidays. [via Pocketnow]
