Motorola Droid Bionic now locked for September 8

A pair of leaks Wednesday have all but confirmed that the Motorola Droid Bionic will ship September 8. The much-hyped Android leader has shown up in the carrier's Equipment Guide for the date. It doesn't have any "direct fill" mentions, leading Droid-Life to hint that to Verizon is deliberately keeping it out of pre-orders, possibly to build up the launch day lines.

A follow-up from the same site both reinforced the date as well as provided a handful of features not known about the phone in the past. It will have Android 2.3.4 and promptly get Google Talk video chat, including over 4G. Battery life, despite the 4G and dual-core processor running the background, could be a long 10.8 hours.

It may cost as much as $300 on contract. Accessories will mostly include battery-related packs and cases, including a wireless charging cover, but should include three-plus docks that include the Lapdock, regular and HDMI desktop docks, and an in-car mount.

The Droid Bionic has been one of Motorola's longest-delayed phones ever, having been unveiled in January at CES only to be completely redesigned weeks later. It has still kept up large amounts of attention since it will still be the first dual-core 4G phone on Verizon. Both the network and its hardware partner are likely to be in a rush to get it out as soon as possible with an iPhone 5 due in a month.
