Creative intros new, capable Zen X-Fi3 players

Creative unveiled its latest portable multimedia players at the start of the IFA show in Berlin with the new Zen X-Fi3. The devices, available in 8GB and 16GB capacities, have a two-inch but sharp 640x480 LCD, Bluetooth 2.1 and a built-in speaker, a microphone and an FM radio. The storage space can be expanded thanks to a microSD memory card slot.

The players have uncharacteristically wide file support for their size, including AAC, MP3, FLAC, WMA, Audible and more, as well as MPEG-4, WMV9 and DiVX video files. A video output lets users connect it to a larger screen. Bluetooth lets users stream music to compatible devices, such as Creative's own headphones and speakers.

The new players follow up on the Zen Style M300 released this spring.

Creative ships to Europe at the end of October, with the 8GB model priced at $100 and the 16GB at $140. A US release isn't yet known.
