Pogoplug Mobile streams media to phones, tablets
Pogoplug kicked off IFA with a remote media sharer intended for smartphones and tablets. The Pogoplug Mobile takes media from a USB hard drive or an SD card and, by linking to the network at home, can share it out to Android and iOS devices. Movies, music, and photos are all purportedly optimized; Android users get a bonus backup uption, as any movies and photos shot on the phone will automatically go to the Pogoplug box in the background.
Any device can see the content stored online at the Pogoplug page. Mobile users can use native, free Android (Android Market) and iOS (App Store) apps to see the content in a more streamlined environment.
The Mobile version of the hub should go on sale October 1 for $80. Pogoplug sees it as a complement to iCloud for iPhone and iPad owners and effectively filling in a blank for Android owners.
