Toshiba intros three Camileo 1080p camcorders
Toshiba UK is making more product debuts at IFA, this time with three new camcorders. They include the tiny Camileo Clip and the larger Camileo X200 and Camileo X400. All three shoot 1080p HD video and can take still images. There is no built-in memory, with all relying on SD cards (microSD in the Clip).
Also shared by the threesome is an electronic image stabilizer. Only the bigger two models get motion and smile detection tech to focus on moving subjects. A new Exposure Measure function, meantime, automatically adjusts image settings.
Users can make basic edits on the cameras, and software is included to speed up social network uploads.
The Camileo X400 gets a 23x optical zoom lens, while the X200 makes do with a 12x zoom. The former also has a five-megapixel CMOS sensor while the latter gets an eight-megapixel sensor. They both share a 3-inch LCD.
The Clip is meant for action adventurers, as it's small and weatherproof thanks to its rubberized finish. As its name implies, a clip is built into the body for attaching onto clothes. It gets a 5x digital zoom that grows to 10x when resolution is lowered to 720p. Stills are set at 16 megapixels. A 1.5-inch LCD sits on the back. It will be available in blue, red, yellow and white.
Connections on all include a mini USB and mini HDMI port.
The cameras ship in the fall in the UK, though prices haven't been revealed. While a US release hasn't been mentioned, the Camileo line usually reaches the US.
