Microsoft intros Xbox 360 COD Modern Warfare 3
Microsoft used the Call of Duty XP gathering on Friday to show another special edition of the Xbox 360. The Limited Edition Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 system comes in a whole-body metal-effect skin reflecting the game and with two wireless gamepads to match. As with the Kinect Star Wars edition, Microsoft has custom game-themed sounds for when the system turns on or ejects the DVD tray.
The console has the same upgraded 320GB drive as on other limited editions shipping in the next several weeks. It accordingly includes a copy of MW3 itself, a month of Xbox Live Gold access, and special Xbox Live avatar content.
The console ships at the same $399 price as other limited editions and will be in stores side-by-side with the game, on November 8. The scope of the game has led Microsoft to make some MW3 accessories: the special gamepad will be available by itself for $60, while the Wireless Headset with Bluetooth is getting its own skin for $70. Both add-ons have their own special downloads.
