Benchmark ranks hybrid at top of Android devices

Samsung's tablet-smartphone hybrid, the Galaxy Note, recently had its performance measured with the Quadrant standard benchmark. Bloggers from Techblog tested the oversized phone at the IFA trade show in Germany. It score of 3,624 on the Quadrant test puts the device in the upper echelon of Android devices currently on the market, alongside the Galaxy S II. Both devices use 1.4GHz Tegra 2 processors.

The benchmark starts at 5:07 in the video of the hands-on, below. The video also shows the Galaxy Note's signature oversized 5.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen.

The smartphone's premium touches come with a hefty price. When the Galaxy Note goes on sale in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden in November, off-contract price for the smartphone will be €750 ($1,060).

The Galaxy Note ships to the UK in early 2012, but a US market launch is not expected. [via Phone Arena]
