Still no official word on timing of Mango update
Amateur coders have posted an unofficial ROM of the upcoming Windows Phone "Mango" update for European HTC Mozart users. The OS update has been finished since late July, and leaked in early August. The new ROM is the first version that contains hardware-specific firmware and manufacturer customizations.
Microsoft appears intent on avoiding the confusion that accompanied its last major OTA update, "NoDo," in March of this year. The company has tried to downplay rumors of a September OTA update without much success. Microsoft is known to be working with several device manufacturers so that the update can roll out as smoothly as possible.
The first handsets to ship with Mango, the Fujitsu-Toshiba IS12T and HTC's Titan and Radar, have been unveiled and could ship as early as this month.
Microsoft has committed to an update for existing Windows Phone 7 devices, but has not made an official announcement on timing. [via WinRumors]

epic fail
The people Microsoft REALLY has to work with to make sure this all happens smoothly are the carriers. Some of the carriers are still holding up some of the updates released in the spring. Why would they let Mango go through?
