Could be bundled with Monster Hunter 3G

Rumors of a second analog d-pad for the 3DS may have found their source. An article in Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu indicates that the upcoming Monster Hunter title for the Nintendo 3DS will require a second analog d-pad. The article features pictures of a cradle-like attachment that adds the second d-pad and also a second right shoulder button to the 3DS.

Monster Hunter Tri-G for the 3DS is a port of Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii. It will add multiplayer support over Wi-Fi and underwater battles. The Wii version requires two analog d-pads to play.

It is unclear if the analog pad was developed by Capcom exclusively for the game or if it is an official Nintendo accessory.

Nintendo has not made an announcement regarding the controller add-on. [via Siliconera]
