Offers remote control for up to 50 feet

Dexim has announced AppSpeed, a motion-control iOS app for the company's new radio-controlled vehicles (free, iTunes App Store). The first vehicle to hit the streets will be a monster truck. With an iOS device in hand, the truck’s movement and speed can be controlled for distances up to 50 feet.

The app allows steering the RC vehicle in two ways. A traditional touch sensor mode controls the truck from the Apple devices’ touchscreens, Alternatively, using the accelerometer directs the truck by moving the iOS device around. AppSpeed is also equipped with three preset modes that allow the user to automatically zigzag, spin or dance their vehicle to music.

Dexim is initially offering the AppSpeed Monster Truck either directly or through Amazon. The truck costs $70. Best Buy is scheduled to begin selling it sometime this fall.
