Split-screen allows TV, internet use together

Epson will be bringing a new line of 2D/3D "Full HD" home theater projectors and one new model of pro cinema projector to dealers and outlets in October and November. The units feature extremely high refresh rates and 2,400 lumen brightness to help combat the main complaint with 3D television: lowered brightness and picture quality. The units can also "split the screen" allowing for two inputs (such as TV and internet) to be used at the same time.

The Pro Cinema 6010 and the Home Cinema 5010 (the latter of which is also available in a wireless version known as the 5010e) both feature contrast ratios up to 200,000:1 and excellent black levels. The two models also feature FineFrame smoothing technology, sharper video in 2D mode and a "cinema" feature for a larger color space and greater color fidelity. The Pro Cinema model adds two anamorphic lens modes, two pairs of 3D glasses and a ceiling mount, cable cover and extra lamp for more installation flexibility.

The Home Cinema 3010/3010e offers up to 2,200 lumens of color and up to 40,000:1 contrast ratio, as well as two built-in 10-watt speakers. It also includes two pairs of 3D glasses. All models offer "split-screen" mode in 2D that accepts two inputs and projects them simultaneously.

All the units feature up to 6,000 hours of lamp life, two HDMI inputs as well as component and composite video, VGA and USB video connections as well as RCA audio connections. The Pro Cinema 6010 is expected to retail for $4,000, while the Home Cinema 5010 and 5010e will sell for $3,000 and $3,500 respectively. The Home Cinema 3010 and 3010e will be priced at $1,600 and $1,800 respectively.

The Home Cinema 3010 models will be available in October with a two-year limited warranty and a 90-day bulb replacement guarantee. The Home Cinema 5010 models will follow in November with the same warranty, while the Pro Cinema 6010 (also available in November) will carry a three-year warranty.
