White Android tablets will hit Japan in October

NTT DoCoMo has officially announced two new tablets for its Xi LTE service, which it launched in December. The Japanese service provider will be offering its customers the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE and the Fujitsu Arrows Tab LTE F-01D. Both Android 3 tablets will come in white and feature 10.1-inch 1280x800 displays

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 incorporates a 3.2 megapixel rear facing camera and a 2.2 megapixel front facing camera.

The Arrows Tab is designed to be waterproof. Its main camera is 5.1 megapixels, while its front-facing camera has a resolution of 1.3 megapixels. It supports Bluetooth 2.1 and not 3.0, but it will also support NTT's 1Seg mobile terrestrial digital audio/video and data broadcasting service. An added convenience is “Hand Gesture Control” which uses simple hand gestures to operate the tablet without physically touching it, detecting them through the front camera.

NTT has also incorporated several carrier specific apps into the tablets including DoCoMo Market and Area Mail, a disaster information service. In conjunction with the launch of these tablets, DoCoMo is offering four new broadband apps including Hulu and Qik video chat for its LTE service.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 will go on sale in Japan in early October. The Arrows Tab will follow in mid-October. The carrier hasn't detailed pricing. In the US, only the Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE is an option of the two, but it's shipping now through Verizon.
