Review: Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 for Mac

updated 08:30 pm EDT, Sat September 10, 2011

We test Logitech's Apple-ready K750 solar keyboard

After giving Windows users a taste of what a solar keyboard is like, Logitech has swung its attention to Mac users with a native version of the Wireless Solar Keyboard K750. It still promises to forever eliminate charging, but it now has a new Mac-oriented design and a fresh look. We'll see in our K750 for Mac review how well it works on Apple computers, including apps, and whether some earlier quirks have been sorted out.

    why the dongle?

Why do they need to put a dongle on a computer that has built-in WiFi? It's a waste of a USB port!

    Bluetooth next?

Sounds like it's time for a next-gen low-power Bluetooth chipset.

Apple should take queues from Logitech

Apple should convert all their wireless products solar power if they can especially keyboards. Or at lease at a micro USB port to charge the device. It's incredibly annoying to be working and have your wireless mouse die on you.

    Waste-A-Port

I hate these RF devices. We have few enough USB ports on our Macs, without wasting one for a stupid RF receiver, ESPECIALLY when Bluetooth is built into EVERY Mac!

    Kernel panics

I has them, with apple's bluetooth keyboard, if I carry the laptop away from the keyboard and return: kablooie. I like the keyboard, but I'm hoping when I upgrade to Lion (after Adobe assures me that it'll play nice) that they will go away. But this sounds interesting...
