ATT finally ships 3G Acer Iconia Tab

AT&T has made September 18 one of its busier days as it revealed Sunday that it plans to roll out its long-promised version of the Acer Iconia Tab A501 on that date. Its version is largely stock apart from the HSPA+ 3G and will ship with Android 3.0, not the 3.1 most Iconia Tabs have since seen through an upgrade. A patch to 3.1 is expected relatively soon after the tablet ships.

The design is one of the most straightforward Android tablets in the field and carries a dual-core Tegra 2 below its 10-inch, 1280x800 display. Five-megapixel back and two-megapixel front cameras are also common. AT&T's version tops out at 16GB of storage.

When stores get the Iconia Tab A501 next week, the device will cost either $480 contract-free or $330 when paired with a two-year service deal. Plans still follow the prepaid format and give either 250MB of data for $15 per month or 2GB for $25.
