Interface already detailed in early leaks

Microsoft is preparing to offer a preview program for the upcoming Xbox interface, which was revealed in recent leaks. The beta preview, which was confirmed by Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hyrb, will enable a select group of users to take an early look at the revamped dashboard. The program is expected to be similar to the dashboard preview that was offered last year.

The new interface was initially announced early this summer at the E3 gaming conference,. The company showed off a design built around the Metro concept, which has served as the basis of the Windows Phone UI and Windows 8.

Leaks suggest the redesigned Xbox 360 UI will also bring a number of new features, including a 'discoverable' option that is expected to enable the console to interact with other devices. Users will be able to take advantage of Bing voice search to find categories, music and specific titles, while Kinect Fun Labs has also been expanded with new options.

Microsoft has yet to commit to a specific launch date for the dashboard preview program.
