Details of product launch remain unclear

Canon has begun distributing invitations to a special event in Hollywood, scheduled for November 3. The invite is titled "The Story Begins" and suggests the company will be making an "historical global announcement," however additional details surrounding the focus of the event, such as a new product to be unveiled, have yet to surface.

British filmmaker Philip Bloom speculates Canon may be preparing to introduce new camcorders based on the Super 35mm sensor, potentially with 4K capabilities to compete with RED's Epic or Sony's F65. Although the Hollywood location suggests the event will focus on a camcorder, another possibility includes the 5D Mark III.
