Kindle with Special Offers to get AmazonLocal

Launching in New York then all AmazonLocal cities


Amazon announced that it will be start presenting deals from AmazonLocal on the Kindle with Special Offers Wi-Fi and 3G editions. The new service will kick off in New York City and roll out to all 44 AmazonLocal cities this year. The coupons appear on the Kindle's screensaven when the e-reader is not being used, or when customers browse through AmazonLocal. Customers make purchases directly from their Kindle. A voucher is sent to the unit to redeem the deal from the merchant, without having to print anything.

In addition to New York, AmazonLocal operates in 43 locations, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and Seattle.

The functionality for receiving AmazonLocal deals on Kindle with Special Offers will be delivered as part of a software update for latest generation Kindles in the coming weeks.
