HTC began work on Windows 8 tablet with ARM?

HTC is working on building a Windows 8 tablet running on a Qualcomm-made ARM chipset, according to Tabletowo, a Polish site dedicated to tablets. The source is industry insider and Mobile-Review Editor-In-Chief Eldar Murtazin, who revealed these plans over Twitter. When such devices will begin showing up isn't known, though they are not expected before the summer of 2012.

HTC is no stranger to making Windows-powered tablets, with its 7-inch Shift UMPC released back in 2008 running Windows Vista Business.

Murtazin also cast doubts on tablets working for Microsoft outside of ARM. He understood Windows 8 tablets with Intel processors should allow four hours of battery life, although he didn't say which chips. [via BGR]
