Phone slips past anticipated Sept. 14 launch date

T-Mobile is prepping to deliver the new RIM BlackBerry Curve 9360. TmoNews reports that marketing material is now reaching T-Mobile retail stores, a strong indicator that the phone itself should not be far behind. It had been rumored that the phone, with a price tag of $230 off-contract, would be hitting the carrier's US shelves on September 14.

The Curve 9360 is an update to RIM's BlackBerry Curve 9300, launched in August last year. The 9360 features an improved 2.44-inch 480x360 display and a much faster 800MHz processor. The camera has been upgrade from two-megapixel to a five-megapixel camera with flash and face detection, albeit with just VGA video recording. Like the 9300, the 9360 sports a fixed QWERTY keyboard and an optical trackpad. Talk time is up to 5.5 hours, and standby is up to 14 days.

The Curve 9360 is already being sold by Canadian carriers. Calls to T-Mobile retail outlets provided acknowledgements that the phone would soon be available, but no specific date.
