OnLive's cloud gaming servies arrives in the UK

On-demand gaming for computers, TVs, tablets


OnLive has announced that its cloud-based gaming service is now available to customers in the UK. The initial launch, which will be formally introduced later today at the 2011 Eurogamer Expo, will enable users to access approximately 150 games via broadband connections and a television, PC or Mac computer, and iPads or Android-based tablets.

The company has also teamed with BT to allow te ISP's broadband customers to take advantage of three months of free access to more than 100 games. OnLive traffic will not be counted toward users' usage allowances until next year, regardless of their broadband plan.

Many Eurogamer Expo attendees will be able to pick up the OnLive Game System at no charge. The accessory kit is required to play games through an HDTV. All first-time OnLive customers in the UK are entitles to receive one PlayPass game for just £1, compared to the standard prices which can reach £40.

The range of content available through OnLive includes titles such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution, DiRT 3, Homefront, F.E.A.R. 3, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, among other titles.

Aside from the promotions, OnLive games are available as single titles, with various prices, or through a monthly PlayPack Bundle program for £7/month
