Partnership extends beyond Android
HTC's collaboration with Beats by Dr. Dre appears to be extending beyond just Android handsets, as the smartphone maker has confirmed plans to bring Beats Audio to upcoming Windows Phone devices. The company has yet to provide further details surrounding specific Windows Phone handsets that will be outfitted with the enhanced audio features, however.
The Sensation XE is HTC's first device to offer Beats Audio, combining software-based audio enhancements with Beats in-ear headphones that also integrate a microphone and remote. The system automatically switches to a custom audio profile when the Beats headphones are connected.
HTC last month announced that it was making a $300 million investment in Beats Electronics, helping the company develop audio processing software for smartphones and tablets.
A time frame for launching Beats Audio-equipped Windows Phone devices remains unclear. [via SlashGear]
