Android 2.3.4 brings 720p video recording to Play

The Android 2.3.4 update to the Xperia Play smartphone has brought 720p video recording, an XDA Developers forum member has found. The standard camera app will do this now, with continuous autofocus enabled. Another user notes that the camera app mod that uses the R button does not support the newly added HD video recording.

The same user also confirms that 1280x720 video at 30FPS can be recorded and is smooth and clear. A short sample video was uploaded to YouTube and is embedded below. Before the update, the handset's highest video recording resolution was 720x480.
