LTE and HD LTE versions of Galaxy S II inbound

Samsung has officially launched new Galaxy S II models for its home market in Korea. The Galaxy S II LTE and Galaxy S II HD LTE will sport new 4G connectivity among other tweaks. The Galaxy S II HD LTE is the first Galaxy smartphone to incorporate an HD display with its 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display at a resolution of 1280x720. This puts it almost on par with the iPhone 4’s Retina Display for pixel density at 316 pixels per inch.

Other than the difference in displays, both phones pack the same internals. Each is powered by a fast 1.5GHz dual-core processor as well as 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording capabilities. On-board memory is 16GB, which is expandable with an additional 32GB microSD card. NFC is also built-in, while both phones also run Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with Samsung’s TouchWiz 4.0 UI.

The new phones are currently available through all three of Korea’s major telcos. Canada's Roger's is also expected to land the phone as soon as September 28 to coincide with the launch of its LTE network. [via Pocket Now]
