ZTE Tania to bring Windows Phone to Chinese
ZTE joined Samsung's entry into Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) devices Monday by launching the Tania. Its performance is relatively modest and sees it carry a 1GHz Snapdragon, 512MB of RAM, a light 4GB of storage below the usual guidelines, and a five-megapixel camera. With a 4.3-inch, 480x800 screen and an upscale design, however, ZTE may have one of the least expensive Windows Phones its size.
The 0.41-inch thick smartphone currently supports HSPA+ 3G on 900MHz and 2,100MHz bands.
Launch details are still uncertain for the Tania, although most phone makers supporting the new batch of Windows Phone 7.5 hardware are expected to ship in October. Less clear is whether or not ZTE will export the phone outside of China. The firm has promised an international launch of the Skate and might do the same for the Tania if it can adapt the phone to other countries' 3G. [via WPXap]
