Waterproof, rugged phone set to tackle field trips

Huawei has teamed up with the Discovery Channel to release a ruggedized phone appropriately branded with the cable network's name. The phone, the Discovery D51, is waterproof to to a depth of one meter (3.3 feet) and also is designed to protect against both drops and dust. To help find the phone if dropped, it comes in a black and bright orange color.

The D51 incorporates a two-inch, 320×240 display with shatter-resistant Gorilla Glass, GPS, an FM radio, a two-megapixel camera, a compass, and a light. Even with its focus, it still uses Opera Mini for browsing and has streamlined access to Facebook and Twitter.

Pricing and availability have not yet been announced. [via Techblog]
