Companies said to be finalizing deal

Time Warner Cable is reportedly preparing to offer HBO's Go apps to its cable TV subscribers. Although the cable provider has yet to publicly confirm the move, which would enable users to access HBO content from mobile devices, unnamed sources have told Bloomberg both companies may be ready to announce an agreement sometime in the next few weeks.

HBO Go is currently supported by most television providers, including Comcast, DirecTV, Dish Netowrk, Verizon, and AT&T, among others. Time Warner Cable and Cablevision are said to be the only major providers that have yet to sign a deal with HBO owner Time Warner.

Recent reports suggest the HBO Go apps for Android, iPad and iPhone have surpassed four million downloads. Time Warner has confirmed that the streaming content will soon be available on additional platforms such as game consoles.

The apps, which require a subscription to HBO service from a cable or satellite TV provider, are said to represent an attempt for Time Warner to engage popular mobile platforms without encouraging customers to drop traditional subscriptions in favor of online-only content providers.
