Company's 32nm yields still low
AMD has revised its third-quarter forecasts, warning investors that revenues and gross margins are expected to fall below original forecasts. The company initially estimated revenue growth of 10 percent, however the numbers are now expected to fall between four and six percent growth due to manufacturing problems.
The company appears to be encountering difficulty achieving satisfactory yields for Llano chips built using 32nm processes at the Globalfoundries factory in Germany. Supplies of 45nm chips was also said to be below expectations.
The chip maker has continued to transition through an executive shakeup, as former Lenovo CEO Rory Read joins the team. AMD's Products Group General Manager Rick Bergman also announced his departure from the company. [via Reuters]
