Fitbit Ultra set to make getting healthy fun

Fitbit has introduced its Fitbit Ultra fitness tracker. The device works as a high-tech pedometer as well as sleep monitor. One of the key features of the new Ultra model is its pressure altimeter, which enables the device to track when a user climbs stairs or walks up hills.

Additionally, the device can measure sleep activity when attached to a special wristband. Each of the device’s functions can wirelessly transmit the data it records automatically, whenever it is near the user’s computer.

The Fitbit Ultra works with web based software that tracks the data recorded by the user to monitor their daily activities against their goals. This information can also be shared with others as motivation. It can also send information back to workout-based smartphones apps such as RunKeeper.

The Fitbit Ultra fitness tracker is available now for $100 from the Fitbit webstore. [via CNET]
