Kindle Touch gets just Amazon, Wikipedia over 3G
Amazon has just cleared up some confusion over the capabilities of its recently introduced, $150 Kindle Touch 3G. Users will not have free reign to browse the web over its AT&T-supplied 3G connection, other than Wikipedia and the Kindle Store for downloading books and periodicals. When a Wi-Fi connection is established, however, users can freely browse the web.
The Wi-Fi version of the Kindle Touch is $100 and lacks a 3G connection whatsoever. Whether the extra 50 percent investment is worth the ability to access Wikipedia and the web store is more dubious, with many of those commenting on the confirmation saying they're going to pass on this version or promising to cancel their order.
Older readers, now called the Kindle Keyboard, will still have access to the browser.
