Toshiba Camileo X416 out later this month

Toshiba has launched the two new HD video cameras it showed at IFA last month, the Camileo X200 and Camileo X400. Both feature full HD recording with electronic image stabilization, a 3-inch touchscreen, and have HDMI-out. They also have on-camera editing and take 16MP (interpolated) stills. Onboard storage is 128MB, some of which is occupied by firmware, but can be expanded up to 128GB by a SD/SDHC/SDXC card.

Both the X200 and X400 charge by either USB or with the included AC adapter.

The X200 has a 12x optical zoom as well as what Toshiba calls an "enhanced" 20x, and up to 60x digital zoom. The X400 has 23x optical zoom, with digital zoom up to 120x.

A third model due later this month, the X416, upgrades the X400 with 16GB of internal storage.

The included uploading software is compatible with Windows (XP or higher) and Mac OS (10.6+), and requires an least a 2.4GHz Intel Pentium 4, 1GB free hard disk space, and a DVD-ROM drive to install.

The Toshiba Camileo X200 and Camileo X400 are available now at a suggested retail price of $230 and $280, respectively. The Camileo X400 will ship on October 10 with a retail price of $320.
